In 2018, AFTRS alumna Vedrana Music (Graduate Diploma in Directing, 2014; Graduate Certificate Screen: Cinematography, 2017) took home the award for Best Australian Short at the Antenna Documentary Film Festival for her AFTRS project Handout, which she made under the teaching and mentoring of Graduate Certificate Screen: Cinematography Lecturer Justine Kerrigan. At the end of April, it will have its international premiere at the largest documentary festival in North America, Hot Docs in Toronto, Canada.
In this poetic five-minute film, Zelijka – Vedrana’s mother – retells the story of her escape from Sarajevo with the first UN Convoy taking mothers and children to Belgrade in 1992.
